Men Board Meeting Present:
The meeting opened with Bud reading from the first chapter of First John. Prayer was then offered by all present. FALL RETREAT DISCUSSION: Bud Palmberg is expected back in November, Kerm will keep checking. A suggested speaker for future retreats is Brad Hill. ALASKA: John Tissell will be leaving November 12 for Bethel. Jim Hodges of Hard Hats for Christ will be in Bethel for over two weeks, starting November 11. CONFERENCE PROJECTS: We haven't heard of any projects ready for our assistance in the Conference. SCHOLARSHIPS: Scholarships for the 2000-2001 school year will be paid in January 2001 (after the year 2000 interest is credited). There are four students at the seminary from the North Pacific Conference. Scholarships of $500 each will be paid in January using interest earned in 2000. One of the National Covenant Properties debentures is due for renewal. This $12,167.35 certificate is currently earning 6.25%, renewal will be at 7%. CASCADES CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER: We need to promote the log cabin fund. OTHER ITEMS: Notes were included with the copies of the October Minutes that were sent to several who had requested copies, but who do not attend either Board Meetings or Retreats asking if they wished to continue receiving copies. There has been no response. WEB PAGE: John Prouty presented a first draft of the possible layout of a web page for Covenant Men. It was well received. The potential value in distributing information on everything from work projects to copies of the minutes was obvious. The discussion included: 1. The have and have nots: A. The Evangelical Covenant (national) has a web page. B. Covenant Women (national) have a web page. C. Cascades Camp and Conference Center has a web page. D. The North Pacific Conference does not have a web page E. Newport Covenant has a web page. F. KICY has a web page. 2. Needed to proceed: A. Domain name. The name should identify Covenant Men from the North Pacific Conference. We should try to obtain npccovenantmen.org. There is a registration cost and an annual fee. John Prouty will follow up. B. A server is needed. We may be able to work through Newport Covenant's server. C. A web master is needed to develop the web page and be in charge of keeping it current. 3. Questions: A. Which churches of the North Pacific Conference have web pages? B. What links are desirable? Both to other web pages and on other web pages directing the inquiry to Covenant Men. C. Who should be able to post items? It was mentioned that Paul Wilson (Alaska Field Director) should have access. D. We should check the contents of the web pages mentioned in Point 1, above. The next news article in the Conference News from Covenant Men should include information about the intended web page and request that anyone interested in assisting as web master should contact Covenant Men. NEXT MEETING: The next board meeting will be 9:30 AM, January 20, 2001 at Cascades Camp and Conference Center. John Tissell, Secretary |
