Covenant Men Board Meeting Cascades Camp and Conference Center
February 10, 2001

Present: Kerm Paulsen, John Prouty, Harold Ulfers, Bud Olson, Tom Moline, Carl Hultquist and John Tissell

The meeting opened with Bud reading from I John, the second chapter. Prayer was then offered by most of those present.

FALL RETREAT DISCUSSION: Bud Palmberg has promised to send Kerm his "bio" information for use in the brochure. We will be using Timberidge, Tahoma and 6 log cabins. One cabin will be reserved for prayer. Kerm has sent e-mail to Pine Lake to verify that their group will again want to be housed in Tahoma.

ALASKA: Kerm P. and John T. will be leaving March 19 for Bethel. ECCAK (the Evangelical Church of Alaska) has made an offer on a large (5000 sq. ft.) house in Soldotna to be used for the Alaska Christian College. There is talk that you'll want dorm built this summer, but this appears to be too short notice for plans and approvals. There will be a house built for Kathy Irvine at North Pole (near Fairbanks), however we do not know the schedule. Doug Olsen has requested help with the "host" cabin at the North River Camp (Unalakleet).

CONFERENCE ANNUAL MEETING: Bud Olsen was appointed alternate delegate. The Men's breakfast will be at a restaurant since the church is too small. Kerm will contact the pastor for recommendations. Don Meyer from Covenant publications, in Chicago will be the speaker.

SCHOLARSHIPS: We have received thank you's from three of the four recipients.

CASCADES CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER: The Camp has a lead on a locomotive.  Dan C. has inspected it and it appears to be suitable. (It is also small enough to be readily moved to the site.) The camp has asked the Men to build shelves and clothes rod for the log cabins (similar to those in Tahoma).  Following the meeting, the shelves in Tahoma were inspected. Also several men stayed and installed electrical boxes, fan, and power panel in the fifth log cabin. A new rule by the State of Washington Dept of Labor and Industries prohibits unlicensed volunteer electricians from doing the wiring for any nonprofit organization.  Samples of plastic overlaid particle board and iron on plastic edge were inspected at John Tissell's shop after the meeting. Cascades will be asked if this material will be acceptable for the shelves in the log cabins.

OTHER ITEMS: The announcements for the board meetings and the minutes are being distributed by e-mail to those who have given us their address. They are also posted on the web page.

NEXT MEETING: The next board meeting will be 9:30 AM, March 17, 2001 at West Hills in Portland. Ride pools will be organized.

John Tissell, Secretary
