Covenant Men Board Meeting
November 17, 2001 Cascades Camp and Conference Center

Present: Kerm Paulsen, Bud Olson, John Prouty, Jeff Wolf and John Tissell

The meeting opened with Bud reading from Nehemiah. Prayer was then offered by those present.

FALL RETREAT DISCUSSION: There has been some confusion on the dates for the 2002 retreat. It will be the last weekend in September. Newport will lead the music.  Art Greco has agreed to speak. The pop corn was well received at the last retreat and should be repeated. We need to discuss the need for more trail rides with the Camp. Most groups have two or more times for rides and we should determine the extra cost and who should pay, riders only or everyone?

ALASKA: Dave Petersen says that Kathy's house should be completed with an under $25,000 mortgage. Contributions are still being received. Dave intends on building "spec" houses and not custom, for the immediate future. Dick Lundberg will contact AEC (Amundsen Educational Center) to find out where the donated van was left in Canada and try to determine if it is worth repair. It would be valuable as a "maintenance vehicle". John Tissell expressed interest in organizing a caravan of RV's to Soldotna next summer. Discussion indicated a potential problem because of the time required. Travel would take almost 2 weeks so someone still working would have to use a minimum of 3 weeks of their vacation time. This would not be a problem to someone who was interested in driving and sightseeing along the Alaska highway.

SCHOLARSHIPS: There are no students from the North Pacific Conference attending North Park Seminary this year. The interest will be reinvested in National Covenant Properties.

CASCADES CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER: Cedar for the new picnic tables was discussed. With a need for both picnic tables and bunks this year, several workdays will be required. It was suggested that week days be used to precut material using "invited" volunteers. A big group would be needed on a scheduled (coordinated with Cascades) Saturday to do the final assembly.

NEXT MEETING: The next board meeting will be Saturday January 19, 2002 at 9:30 AM. at West Hills in Portland.

John Tissell, Secretary
