Covenant Men Board Meeting
October 27, 2001 Cascades Camp and Conference Center

Present: Kerm Paulsen, Bud Olson, John Prouty, Harold Ulfers, Jeff Wolf, Dick Lundberg and John Tissell

The meeting opened with Jeff reading from Proverbs 27. Prayer was then offered by those present.

FALL RETREAT DISCUSSION: The music group returned their honorarium, which was then credited to the cabin fund. The cabin fund now totals $1870.  The initial dates published for the 2002 retreat are in error. The retreat will be September 27, 28 and 29. Art Greco will be the speaker. Music continues to be a problem, basically the men are divided on the type of music that appeals to them. The music leaders for 2001 were complimented for using printed song sheets which were much more readable than the typical overhead.

ALASKA: Dave Petersen says that Kathy's house should be completed with an under $35,000 mortgage. Contributions are still being received. Currently there is an unpaid bill for the boiler at Alaska Pipe and Supply.

SCHOLARSHIPS: Kerm will contact the Conference to obtain the names of seminary students from the North Pacific Conference. It was reaffirmed that the scholarships must be limited to full time students.

CASCADES CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER: The sixth log cabin is nearing completion. They expect a total of 8 to be ready for the 2002 youth camps. The railroad steam engine is at the camp and will painted before reassembly. The very important and critical septic permit has been obtained for the train camp, but construction will be delayed until finances can be worked out. There are several well qualified applicants for the maintenance job. The man hired is expected to start work December 1, 2001. There are many volunteer jobs available at the camp. Tom asked to be contacted by any available volunteer for a list. No one offered to assist with the caulking of the log cabins. Cedar for the new picnic tables was discussed. A suggestion was to obtain a Woodmizer and use volunteers to cut the lumber at the Camp. Users of the Woodmizer attend a one day school to learn its operation. Following the meeting, shelves and clothes rod were installed in the sixth log cabin.

NEXT MEETING: The next board meeting will be Saturday November 17 at 9:30 AM. at Cascades Camp and Conference Center.

John Tissell, Secretary
