Men Board Meeting Present: Kerm Paulsen, Dick Lundberg, Keith Olson, Bud Olson and John Tissell The meeting opened with Bud reading from the first chapter of Ephesians. Prayer was then offered by those present. It was noted that Jeff Wolf was absent due his father's serious illness and prayer was offered for his father and the family. FINANCES: Several checks are missing in the mail. Kerm and Dick will follow up and if the Post Office is unable to locate the checks, the donors will be notified to stop payment. Covenant Men offered to underwrite the purchase of a microwave oven for the kitchen at Cascades. Carolyn Stoll was able to obtain what appears to be a very excellent oven for under $150. FALL RETREAT DISCUSSION: Don Davenport, Associate Director of Church Planting & Congregational Development has accepted our invitation to be speaker. Kerm has received a picture from Don but is still waiting for "bio" information and a list of his message topics. Kerm has been forwarding the information to John Prouty, who is working on the brochure. CONFERENCE ANNUAL MEETING: The meeting is hosted jointly by the Pine Lake and North Bend Covenant churches. We have received conflicting information as to which church will be the site of the business meeting. The information sent by the Conference to the delegates will include time and locations. The Men's breakfast will be at the Denny's restaurant in North Bend (first North Bend exit when traveling east). They have room for 48 and the men will order from the menu. Kerm is following up on a speaker suggested by Don Robinson. ALASKA: There has been very little word from Alaska on 2002 projects. There appears to be an obvious need at AEC (Amundsen Educational Center). Currently they have only the foundation completed for the first building and are cutting lumber on site for the construction. John Tissell has promised to upgrade the phone system at MARC (Missionary Aviation Repair Center). Len Wickstrom, the director of MARC, states that there are two possible church building projects this summer, but we have no locations or other information. We will be contacting Dave Petersen and Del Corrick (AEC) directly before the next meeting to obtain more precise information. It was suggested that a basic phone system be offered to AEC while we have the tools and equipment in Soldotna for the installation at MARC. Currently ACC (the Alaska Christian College) appears to have sufficient volunteer workers for the summer building projects, however we will offer to fill any special needs. CASCADES CAMP AND CONFERENCE CENTER: Following the meeting, Board Members and volunteers cut the bunk bed lumber to length. Additional prefabrication will be done next Thursday and Friday in preparation for final assembly during a scheduled work day March 2. Covenant Men will be responsible for obtaining the required "white" glue and lag screws. Our source, a fastener company owned by Christians and located in Tillicum, normally has prices that are 50 to 80% lower than the major warehouse stores. ($0.037 per screw vs $0.23 and $0.17 vs $1.17 for lags at Lowe's.) NEXT MEETING: The next board meeting will be Saturday March 16 at Cascades Camp and Conference Center. These additional dates have been tentative set:
