Men Board Meeting
March 2003 Minutes
Attending: John Prouty
(President); John Tissell (Vice-President); Jeff Wolf (Recording Secretary);

Opening Meditation: John

Prayer: Praise and thanks for
God’s goodness. Petitions for needs of several members at large.
Agenda Approved: John Prouty,
President
Read/Approve previous Meeting
Minutes: Jeff Wolf read the meeting notes for the March 15, 2003 meeting. The
official minutes will be reviewed and approved at the next meeting.
Financial Secretary Report:
Jeff Wolf read Dick Lundberg’s emailed Financial Report. Total deposits for
the period between March 11 and May 2 totaled $530.
Treasurer Report: Keith Olson
read, and the board approved, the treasurer’s report for the period through
May 16. The current checking balance is $2,946.87. The board discussed the
following:
To simply accounting; the board
approved John Prouty to close the $4,778.05 Smith Barney reserve account and
forward the check to Dick for deposit to checking as follows: $2,000 to cover
the 2002 Scholarship distribution. $2,500 will be
transferred to the log cabin fund. The remainder will remain designated as
reserves.
The board also approved to
convert (1) NPC variable rate certificate to a higher fixed rate.
Project Committee Report:
Discussion led by John Tissell (Project Committee Chair)
Alaska Christian College,
Soldatna, AK (ACC)- They have started construction of the new dorm. We have
committed to help with the new digital phone system in August/September 2003.
Alaska Educational Center,
Soldatna, AK (AEC)- We have not been requested to help with any 2003 projects.
Cascades Camp Projects- We
will assemble bunks beds for the latest log cabin after the meeting today. The
next set of bunks beds for the second cabin needs to be assembled immediately
prior to the July Family Camp. Jeff Wolf will advertise for help to construct
approximately (20) exposed aggregate concrete park benches. John Tissell is
working on a design for a portable barbeque pit.
Stewardship Report: Discussion
led by John Prouty.
John noted that approximately
$500 plus in pledges are yet to be received for Kerm’s memorial cabin fund.
We will use reserves to cover any shortfall if the full amount is not received
by the September board meeting.
Executive Board Report- (None
given.)
Camp Board Report- John
Prouty noted that major donor fundraising is in progress for the Train Camp
and Nisqually Center expansion.
Old Business-
2002 NPC Annual Meeting: John
Prouty noted that he presented the annual report at the meeting.
2003 Retreat Planning:
Need a worship team for the
October 3-5 retreat. John Prouty discussed potential groups as follows:
Congolese Church of Portland; Irvington Covenant; or a group headed by Jerry
Lindman which lead the previous Family Camp. John will contact the groups to
verify their availability and discuss at the next meeting.
2004 Outreach Project- The
focus will be Alaska Missions. Potential fundraising options were: Facility
construction at AEC; sponsoring of a MARC aviation pilot; and projects at KICY
or a local church. We will discuss options at the June and August meetings.
Retreat Publicity- We will
send out postcard reminders after Labor Day.
July Family Camp Salmon
Barbeque- Need to coordinate labor; procure sauce ingredients; verify dry and
green hardwood firewood on hand; cleanout grills and pit; and obtain heavy
gloves.
Defining Covenant Men: (Discussion
tabled until next meeting; previous discussion is listed below.)
What is a Covenant Men group
at the local church level? A group of men in a local Covenant church that
meet together to support and encourage each other in their walk of faith and
service to Christ.
What are Covenant Men at the
conference level? (We will research
the past history of Covenant Men.)
How can we be more effective
at the conference level? (We will
continue working on this and the items below.)

New Business:
Need to continue updating the
CovMen website. (i.e.- Post draft
meeting agendas, meeting minutes, pending projects and the CovMen mission.)

Covenant on June 14, 2003 at 10am.

cancelled.)
