Meeting Time/Location: 10am/John Tissell’s residence adjacent to Cascades Camp & Conference Center, Yelm, WA

Attending: John Prouty (President); John Tissell (Vice-President); Jeff Wolf (Recording Secretary); Dick Lundberg (Financial Secretary); Keith Olson (Treasurer); Harold Ulfers (Stewardship Committee Chair); Joe Geldmacher (Midway Covenant) and Bud Olson (Member at large).

Opening Meditation/Prayer: John Tissell (I Thes. 5:11) "The life we live, rather than what we say, wins others to Christ".

Agenda Approved: John P. discussed the agenda which was approved as presented.

Read/approve previous meeting minutes: Jeff Wolf read the minutes for the March 13, 2004 meeting which were approved.

Financial Secretary Report: Dick Lundberg reviewed the finance report which was approved. Contributions were received in the amount of $710 through April 9.

Treasurer Report:

  • Keith reviewed the Treasurer report. The current net savings balance is $933.27 which includes a $179 deficit for the 2004 Missions project and $559.11 in general. Approved distribution of a total of $830 to ministries from various fund balances as follows: $280 to A.E.C.; $40 to MARC general; $70 to MARC Pilot; $100 to KICY; and $340 to Village Ministries.

Keith forwarded a check in the amount of $2,250, from National Covenant Properties account, to deposit in savings. This covers the 2004 scholarship distribution.

Project Committee Report:

  • 2004 Missions Project- Harold noted that pledges are still coming in.

  • Alaska- No discussion.

  • Cascades- Jeff discussed pending projects as follows:

  • Park Benches- Approved to fund cost of concrete to construct around a dozen concrete park benches.

  • Bunk beds- Bunks installations are on hold since the first log is not completed yet and the second may not be completed until fall.

  • 1917 Steam engine locomotive restoration project: Project is still on hold for now.

  • Portable Barbeque Pit- The project is still on hold with a completion date in May 2005 in time for the 4th of July camp salmon barbeque.

Camp Board Report: No discussion.

Old Business:

  • 2004 Retreat Planning- Worship leader- The planned person will not be available. Keith will whether his brother Peter Olson is available.

  • Retreat registration- Set a fall retreat registration deadline of 9/27/04 since the camp needs to order food by 9/29/04. The fee is set at $85 per person based on an attendance of 89. (There were 85 full-time attendees last year.) The other fees will be $55 for one night with meals and $37 for meals only.

  • Revise CovMen Bylaws- The draft bylaws were approved as amended and will be presented for adoption at the fall retreat annual meeting on 10/2/04.

New Business:

  • Bunk beds- Need to verify with Tom Moline whether Bunk beds will be needed for the recently completed Red Cabins at horse camp.

  • 2004 NPC Annual Meeting- Approved the proposed 2003/2004 annual report. John P. will present it at the meeting on May 1 to be held at McMinnville Covenant Church in McMinnville, OR. The host church will host the Saturday morning CovMen breakfast at the church. The local Chief of Police will be the speaker.

Next Meeting: At Cascades Camp and Conference Center, Yelm, WA on May 8, 2004 at 10am.
