Men Board Meeting Attending: John Prouty; Dick Lundberg; Bud Olson; Keith Olson; John Tissell; Harold Ulfers Opening Meditation: John Tissell (John 1:10-13) We are the children of God. The June 4, 2004 minutes were approved as corrected. Financial report: We received $680 in designated accounts in July. We will send the money after the next meeting since several large donation are expected in August. Current balances are as follows: AEC $300, Camp Gilead $701, KICY $200 ,MARC pilots $80 , MARC Village Ministries $510. A note will be mailed after the August meeting to retreat attendees of the past two years. It will promote the 2004 retreat and make a pitch for Camp Gilead. We need to get retreat information on to the web site. Some churches have misplaced their brochures, including Praise Covenant. Work at Cascades: We need to start working on bunk beds since we will need 71 by next summer. Sixty five are needed by the Train Camp and 6 for the cabin by Tahoma. The five on hand will go to the next cabin. It will probably be possible to build 15 or 20 at a times. The biggest problem is having a place to store them. Since we have not heard of further delays, the two permits for the Train Camp are probably in hand. The Camp has purchased a caboose. The reconstruction of the engine will have to wait until sufficient track is laid and the exact location established. Work in Alaska: There are no new churches scheduled for 2004. Dave Petersen is taking students from AEC to Shacktoolik to give them hands on work experience repairing the parsonage (There is no pastor at present.) MARC is having their 40th Anniversary Celebration and Open House August 21. MARC has received a major donation to built a hanger for their planes. Portable barbecue: Discussion centered on the barbecue from Circle C. It could form the basis for a new barbecue. Retreat: Jeff Wolf is contacting Harry Stein back for availability to lead the music. Other possibilities are Peter Olson (we not certain that he'll be in the area) and Harold Ulfer suggested Dan Davis. The speaker for the 2005 retreat is Superintendent Mark Novak. Salmon barbecue: There were several complaints about too much salt and fish that had barbecues too fast due to the heat of the fire. Next year the fire must be kept cooler. The fish needs to be all placed in boats before salting and the salting needs supervision. The next board meeting will be August 14 at 9:30 am. The topics include:
