Project Committee Report:
Alaska- John T. discussed potential projects as noted below. We need to start publicizing projects at the annual meeting. ACC- They need computer and phone work in September 2004. They’re planning on expanding the kitchen/dining room facilities. AEC- They plan to start work on a 2nd dorm cabin and multi-purpose building. Mat-Su Covenant Church- Needs phone work in their new building in September.
Park Benches- Setting up a project to construct around a dozen concrete park benches. The work party dates will most likely be May 8 and June 12. Bunk beds- Jeff noted that assembled wood parts for (10) bunk beds will be stained on April 10. The beds will be assembled on May 8 if the first new cabin is ready, otherwise the work will be scheduled for June 12. Beds for the second cabin will be assembled after its ready later this year. 1917 Steam engine locomotive restoration project: Tom noted that the Yollo Short Line in Woodland, CA, previously owned the camp’s locomotive and might have information needed for the restoration. He also noted that Jim Edwards, at Crossroads Covenant, might be interested in working on the project. Need to verify whether a locomotive tender car will be added to the project and whether a "reproduction" or real caboose will be used. The camp is also looking for a hand pump rail car. The project planning phase is scheduled to commence in May 2004 with the restoration to start in September. The work will need to be completed before the Train Camp opens in spring 2005. Portable Barbeque Pit- The project is still on hold with a completion date in May 2005 in time for the 4th of July camp salmon barbeque.
