Covenant
Men Annual Report The past year included trips to Alaska and work at Cascades Camp and Conference Center. The a web site was well used, with many of the registrations for the Fall Retreat using forms downloaded from the web page. Anyone with access to the Internet can obtain information on Covenant Men activities, board meeting announcements, volunteer work projects, minutes and Fall Retreat. Covenant Men did not award any scholarships for the 2001-2002 school year since there were no seminary students from the North Pacific Conference attending North Park Seminary. Sixty-three grants totaling $19,870 have been given to forty-one seminary students from the North Pacific Conference over the past fifteen years. The current investment income from in National Covenant Properties that was not used, was reinvested. The Alaska work was centered at Bethel and the Alaska Christian College in Soldotna. March and October trips to Bethel assisted with the completion of remodeling of the Alaska Airlines Terminal building. The remodeled building was dedicated October 2001. At the college, the men paid for and installed the phone system, computer wiring, upgraded the door locks to meet school standards and installed door hardware on the three new dorm buildings. The entire campus was rekeyed by the volunteers to provide master keys to staff as well as limit access by students and visitors to such places as the kitchen, food storage and offices. The volunteers pay for their own travel and food. In addition many times the volunteers purchase needed material. Donations in material and travel expenses for 2001 were nearly $20,000. At Cascades Camp and Conference Center, the men built additional bunk beds for the log cabins now under construction. Currently the men are constructing 30 picnic tables. Since we are prohibited from wiring the cabins by new regulations by the State of Washington, we assist by placing the electrical panel, fan and boxes for lights and outlets in order that the cabins are wired consistently. Covenant men also fabricate and install the shelves and clothes rods in the cabin. We have started to raise money to underwrite the construction of a log cabin and will make pledging for this project a Fall Retreat priority. The $10,000 needed for a cabin is only a fraction of the money raised by Covenant Men to finance the purchase of Circle C and a portion of the construction of the lodge, an investment that paid a return of over 2000% to the North Pacific Conference.
